.....but we do have a lot of fun!

We are a veritable eclectic mix of characters who take freemasonry and being a member of it very seriously but we never forget that

Freemasonry is a hobby and not a vocation.

The lodge meets five times a year, always on the fourth Thursday of January, March, May, September and November. Lodge of instruction is held every Wednesday through the months of September to May at the Masonic Hall in Gravesend. This is normally well supported by the members for reason that it gives us a chance to meet up, learn and enjoy a drink at the bar afterwards.

We are a sociable Lodge who prides itself on our social calendar and our varied programme of planned social events, from medieval banquets to murder mystery evenings and not forgetting our Gala weekends and ladies festivals.

Our membership is around 40 in number ranging from mid 20's to early eighties and embraces ongoing growth and addition to the Lodge membership for reason that we are always bringing new members into the lodge every year both from other lodges and those new to Freemasonry.

Our ceremonies are based essentially on 'Emulation' workings with a measure of 'Taylors' workings added to ensure that we can always declare that we are adding variation to give a fresh approach to our performances.

We do have a number of members who are musicians and this often leads to impromptu performance at our social evenings. So all in all I guess you could say that Macartney Lodge is a lodge where the fun never stops and the unexpected is to be expected!!
